The Douglas County Drug Court team is hosting its annual community Recovery Walk event from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, in South Park, 1141 Massachusetts St., near the gazebo. There will be a speaker who will talk about his personal journey in recovery. There will be fun contests and activities, including an egg toss, doughnut challenge, cake walk, corn hole challenge, Plinko board, tile art table and face painting. There will also be messages of hope and luminarias along the pathway around the park.
The Drug Court Alumni Group is hosting a raffle ($1 per ticket) for a chance to win one of two Fall Baskets filled with items donated by local merchants, gift cards and autumn décor. The Alumni Group will use the money raised to host prosocial sober events in 2025.
The event is held in conjunction with National Recovery Month, and it is free and open to the community.
