Food Policy Council (FPC) Mon, Jun 16 2025 6:30 PM

Meeting Information

The Douglas County Food Policy Council (FPC) works to identify the benefits, challenges, and opportunities for building a successful, sustainable local food system. Its purpose is to advise elected officials on food-system-related policy issues and to serve as a community forum for local food system development.

Jun 16, 2025 Full Council Meeting will cover several key topics, including presentations on Local Food Fellows on local SNAP/EBT access and food mapping projects, updates on Central Station, and food system planning for the 2026 World Cup. We’re excited to feature two excellent complementary presentations from our local food fellows:

  1. Local SNAP Retailer Report, Presented by Grant Misse
Grant has completed a draft report focused on SNAP retailer access in Douglas County, developed in alignment with the food security strategies of the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). (Draft available for download under Related Documents).
  2. Douglas County Extension Food Fellow Project, Presented by Olivia Ellet
Olivia’s project identifies food access points in Douglas County to better understand barriers to food security. It includes a digital food access map and a forthcoming written report, all designed to support equitable access to nutritious, affordable, and culturally relevant food.
