Navigating Mental Illness & Addiction community workshop on Sat, March 19, 2022 - 9:30 AM


The community is invited to a free workshop that will offer education about resources in Douglas County for mental illness and addiction. The workshop will be 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 19, in Flory Meeting Hall at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, 2120 Harper St.

Speakers will be:

  • Bruce Liese, clinical director of the Cofrin Logan Center for Addiction Research and Treatment and a professor of Family Medicine and Psychiatry at the University of Kansas Medical Center
  • Lisa Cyrus, Peer Support Program manager at Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center

Following each presentation, there will be opportunities for discussion and questions with the guest speakers and Peer Specialists. This workshop is meant to offer information, break down barriers, and empower the community to be resource navigators.

Coffee and pastries will be available for purchase through Uplift Coffee, a mobile local business, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
